Just what are stunt scooter pegs anyway?

Scooter stunt enthusiasts around the globe are always looking for new and inventive ways to perform more tricks on their kick scooters. They learned that by installing rods in their front and rear wheels gave them a new axis on the scooter to perform more tricks. Thus was born the scooter stunt peg.

What Are Stunt Scooter Pegs?

Pegs are relatively cheap (usually $15-$30) add-on modifications to the classic kick scooter; which usually incorporates a base on which the rider stands, a front and back wheel, and a set of handlebars that turn the front wheel to the rider’s desired direction. The scooter stunt pegs allow for an additional horizontal axis on which the rider can perform a multitude of tricks as outlined below.

Grinds

With the installation of a set of steel scooter stunt pegs the rider can jump his scooter in the air and land on a rail. The rider then balances his body-weight accordingly and rides the rail on the scooter’s stunt pegs. It is best not to perform grinds with aluminum scooter stunt pegs due to their durability. There are many variations of grinds that are dependent on which scooter stunt peg(s) your using to perform the trick.

Stalls

With the installation of a set of steel or aluminum scooter stunt pegs the rider can also perform tricks known as stalls. A stall on a scooter is when the rider uses the scooter’s stunt pegs to halt the momentum of the scooter; effectively coming to a stop using the scooter’s stunt pegs as the stall point. Stalls are performed at the lip of ledges and are achieved by balancing the scooter on its stunt pegs with the rider’s body-weight to balance the scooter on a wall, box or ramp edge.

Jumps and Spins

Trick scooter riders can also use the scooter’s stunt pegs to achieve jumps and spins not possible on a kick scooter that does not have stunt pegs installed. Rider’s can use their foot to push down or pull up on the pegs to achieve lift; as well as kicking the pegs in any direction to achieve a spin.

Overall

It is considered necessary in the world of stunt scooters to have a quality set of stunt pegs installed as they provide the rider with a greater range of tricks available to perform.
