When you skate around the park you need fine and hard tunes to make a difference. Focus comes easier when you’ve got fine hard tunes filling your ears. Time to take a look at the self-titled album by Wolftooth.
If your name is Wolftooth, you can’t go wrong. The name and the album cover has a New Wave of British Heavy Metal vibe but there is more than meets the eye – or ear in this case. When you give this record a spin you feel the influences by early NWOBHM and even thrash and doom metal. However it all compacts into stoner metal. And the thrash influences are a bit hidden away.
It is hard to refrain yourself from headbanging. The songs on this album bite you and keeps you in a hold, like a wolf should. Most tunes have a march-like feeling to them. However to us, it is a bit too friendly. Chris Sullivan is an awesome vocalist but he is too clean for our taste.
But this Wolftooth will stick into our ears for a long time. A great album to skate and bang to, and if it had a little more aggression, it would be the album of the year.
