Brand
Far –but not that far- away in Germany in a hipster area of Köln, Apollo was born. This young unknown brand decided to bring the surf feeling to the road. And what is the closest thing to a surfboard with wheels? Yes, a longboard.
Apollo state that they bring a top quality, top notch, top class kind of longboard made out of the best materials to optimise the riding experience.
Design
We had the honour to put a special edition designed by Apollo under our feet. Time to roll the streets and see if it is hot or not.
If you talk to anybody who owns one they’ll say that this special edition Tahiti longboard by Apollo is the ideal board for cruising, freeriding and especially carving. Let us cut the chase, that is true. This board is a beauty to carve with.
This longboard has the looks thanks to its amazing artwork. It also has the quality. The bearings are really smooth and the board gives a great agile response when riding and turning. The materials used are all of good quality which makes this is a very durable board and it is even stronger and lighter than the standard Canadian maple longboards on the market.
However not all is good with this model and we have to deduct a lot of points for its major downside. The extreme wheel-bite on this longboard is actually very annoying and the extra problem it creates is the fact that without buying additional parts or extra modification you are unable fix the wheel bite. Be aware of this because it can be a real hassle to fix.
All in all the Tahiti is a good longboard for beginners or riders who have some experience. Although Apollo is an unknown brand, it actually delivers a quality product but the major downside of the wheel bite is a factor to take into account.
